Description
This course will focus on the fundamental principles of contour, value, and composition, utilizing a variety of methods and materials. Class structure will include handouts, discussion, image presentations, drawing from still life and photographs, and critique. It is designed to create strong foundations for the beginner, but can benefit the experienced artist seeking to reconnect with the fundamentals and/or refine their work habits.
Materials
Soft drawing pencils, recommend Design Ebony pencil (Sanford)
1 White and 1 black charcoal pencil or Conte crayon
Kneaded eraser
Pink Pearl eraser
Drawing pad (recommend 12’’x18’’ or larger)
Mid-toned Gray paper, single sheets or pad (I recommend Strathmore 400 series)
Optional Materials
12’’x18’’ (or larger) newsprint pad
