The Marco Island Center for the Arts is proud to join communities around the world in celebrating “A Very Laufey Day” on Sunday, August 23, 2026, with a special afternoon dedicated to art, music, literature, and creativity.

From Noon to 2:00 p.m. at the Marco Island Center for the Arts, 1010 Winterberry Drive, guests are invited to experience a unique celebration inspired by two-time Grammy Award-winning artist Laufey and her passion for bringing people together through the arts.

The free community event will feature light refreshments served in the galleries as visitors explore the Center’s current exhibitions while enjoying the music of Laufey in a welcoming and inspiring atmosphere. Guests are encouraged to take their time browsing the artwork, connecting with fellow fans—known affectionately as “Lauvers”—and celebrating the power of creativity in all its forms.

As part of the afternoon’s festivities, Marco Island Center for the Arts Executive Director Hyla Crane will present a special reading of Mei Mei the Bunny, Laufey’s beloved children’s book, offering a heartwarming experience for families and visitors of all ages.

“A Very Laufey Day” celebrates the joy of music, storytelling, and visual art while encouraging communities to gather and experience creativity together. The Marco Island Center for the Arts is honored to participate in this international celebration and welcomes both longtime Laufey fans and those discovering her work for the first time.

The event is free and open to the public. No reservations are required.

ART TALK 01 – AMERICAN ART ICONS – Wednesday, October 14^th, 2026 at 11 am

Artist and art educator Rob Eder presents a lively talk exploring what is uniquely American in the work of Frederic Church, Winslow Homer, John Frederick Peto, and Jasper Johns. Through images and discussion, the presentation connects Church’s landscapes, Homer’s realism, Peto’s trompe l’oeil still-life paintings, and Johns’ iconic symbols to the evolving American experience. Spanning more than a century of art, the talk reveals how these artists transformed ordinary subjects into distinctly American statements. The program is designed specifically for the Marco Island Center for the Arts community interested in art, culture, and American identity.
