Description: OPENING RECEPTION FOR THIS MULTI MEDIA EXHIBIT FEATURING WORKS BY MEMBERS OF THE ART LEAGUE MARCO ISLAND’S CENTER FOR THE ARTS. EXHIBIT RUNS THROUGH 8/31/2009.

We experience texture in our everyday lives – the smoothness of silk, the roughness of tree bark, the coarseness of sand. The stimulus of texture provokes a unique and individual response.

The visual artist has a distinct method in which to create texture. For the 3-D artist it may the actual tactile sensation of the surface to which the medium has been applied, carved away or altered. For the 2-D artist it might be the visual simulation and interpretation of the textured form.

Each member artist included in this exhibition of Texture Takes on Form has considered the union with texture to the surface or form and is offering his/her unique solution and style to the end result.
