Color, light and the bold, fascinating forms of the South Florida landscape are my inspiration. Interesting arrangements of positive and negative shapes in the landscape are especially attractive to me.

The images in my paintings are familiar components of the Everglades; palms, clouds, prairies, water. As I paint I listen to their ancient voices and learn the stories of their march through primeval time.

The light is fabulous here, and my goal is to capture the essence of the magic moments when the light and landscape come together to reveal a gift of nature.
That particular moment will never come again in quite the same way.

I paint in and around Marco Island, and especially enjoy painting the beauty of the nearby Everglades. Working "en plein air" whenever possible, I sometimes use photos when time and weather dictate studio work.

Through my painting, it is my hope that the viewer will become more personally involved with an appreciative response to the landscape and come to value the special moments that nature presents. I want to encourage people to feel a connection between the spirituality of these undisturbed places and the depth of their own humanity. Our very survival as a species depends on valuing and preserving these beautiful and fragile natural places so vital to the health of our planet.
